May 21 will be remembered for a long time by the residents of Cyprus as the day of “return to normality.” This day begins the second phase of the weakening of the quarantine regime. This means the beginning of classes for students of primary schools and gymnasiums, as well as the resumption of cafes, restaurants and hairdressers and, consequently, the return to work of 32,000 employees of various industries.
About 5.5 thousand people are employees of hairdressers and beauty salons. 25.5 thousand people work in the field of catering: cafes, restaurants, bars.
However, restaurants, bars and cafes will be able to open only if they have open areas (terraces). Clients are not allowed to stay indoors.
The main difference between the second phase of the weakening of quarantine and the first is that now you will not need to send SMS, wherever you go, which means complete freedom of movement. Now you can go to visit friends from Nicosia to Paphos, or come shopping from Limassol to Ikea, located in the capital of the island, or go from Larnaca to Ayia Napa and stay there as much as your heart desires. It’s hard to believe, right? We are so used to control and restrictions over these months … Let’s hope that these times will never come back and the worst is behind.
We remind you that it is still possible to be on the beach only if you are swimming or walking. Sitting/lying in the sand, sunbathing, or doing team sports until June 1 is not allowed.
