More than 10 million euros will be spent on the reconstruction and improvement of the historical center of Geroskipou. This was announced by the mayor of the city Michalis Pavlidis. The historic center of Geroskipou will be completely modernized, and the old army training center will be converted into an exhibition area.
“The Municipality of Geroskipou, in cooperation with the Municipality of Paphos, is preparing a proposal that will be sent to Greek researchers by November 30 to jointly promote EU-funded projects for the period 2021-2027,” Pavlidis said.
The proposal for the improvement and reconstruction of the center involves the creation of a silk processing museum, an event hall and green areas. A roundabout will be built on the embankment, which will facilitate traffic in the area, and the road network will be repaired. The road linking the beach to the center of Geroskipou is expected to be completed in June next year, so residents will have safer and faster access to the sea next summer. In addition, additional parking spaces will be created.
And in the center of Paphos, the authorities intend to renovate an old hotel on Fellahoglu Street. A hundred years ago, it was the place where travelers who traveled through the city to other parts of the island stayed. The project will cost the budget 125 thousand euros and will be completed in three months. Companies interested in participating can submit their tender proposals to the municipality by 23 November. On October 30, a new medical center was opened in Paphos, including a dental and psychiatric clinic, a maternity ward and other medical services.
